Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid Lawsuit Status Update: December 2017

Documents were filed to request that all Proton Pump Inhibitor cases filed in Federal Court be assigned to one judge so that all pre-trial decisions are made by that judge. The initial request for coordination of the cases was denied on February 2, 2017.

Since that time, additional documents were filed to request that the panel of judges that denied the request reconsider its ruling. On August 2, 2017, the panel granted this request and assigned all Proton Pump Inhibitor cases to the Honorable Claire C. Cecchi in the Federal Court in the District of New Jersey.

To date, Judge Cecchi has entered several Orders, include an Order appointing certain attorneys to work on the case in a leadership role. NastLaw is happy to report that Daniel N. Gallucci, our senior attorney, was appointed by Judge Cecchi to serve as a member of the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee.

For the past several months, NastLaw has met with other Plaintiffs’ attorneys and have shared hundreds of emails about this litigation. Some topics include policies and procedures that the judge will likely establish as the litigation progresses. NastLaw will continue to participate in these meetings to help keep this large litigation moving forward.

Given the complexity of this litigation, there is a long road ahead. Please be assured that your case is being diligently pursued.

At NastLaw, we will continue to post updates about the litigation as new information becomes available.

Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid Lawsuit Information

Proton Pump Inhibitors Lawsuits allege that:

  • PPI manufacturers spend billions of dollars in advertising to increase the number of people using their products AND increase the frequency that PPIs are used
  • Drugs like Prilosec, Nexium and Prevacid are marketed as safe to use for extended periods of time, when in reality extended usage has been linked to serious kidney injuries
  • The manufacturers of these drugs failed to provide adequate warning to patients and doctors about the potential long term health risks associated with their products, choosing profits over the safety of their customers
